Looks like the article "Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc" has been saved over with with the Photon Belt article. That should probably be fixed. --Yahweh 18 August 2005 06:09 (GMT)

I can't see it.Geni 18 August 2005 10:55 (GMT)

Does the Broken Window Fallacy belong here? If it does, I´d like to write about it. (So don´t you *dare* beat me to it ;-)) Chaos 20 March 2007 18:21 (GMT)

I would say it does. I promise I'll let you have first crack at it (but I do not promise not to edit/add to it afterwards). :^P —Shanek 14:41, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Selection Bias is a fallacy listed here; there's also Confirmation bias, not listed here. Are these the same thing? Should they be merged, or should Confirmation Bias be added to this list and the two differentiated somehow? —Shanek 14:43, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

As I understand it: Selection bias is a methodology problem. Confirmation bias is a cognitive effect (which can lead to a selection bias by a non-blinded experimenter). Selection bias can be totally accidental, while confirmation bias involves human judgement. Phildonnia
Wikipedia describes something different: Confirmation bias a type of selection bias in which the experimenter seeks data only to confirm the theory, and not to refute it. (That is, they look only for white swans, which they find.) Selection bias is a more general case, perhaps looking for swans of all colors, but only in a certain geographical region that has no black swans.
